Genevieve Guevarra, Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service of the Department of Agriculture, together with Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza and Food Terminal Inc. Vice President for Corporate Affairs lawyer Oliver Dicdican, led the rollout of BBM Na! to beneficiaries.
Guevarra, who was invited as the keynote speaker of the event, said BBM Na! is in line with the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Program of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“The Benteng Bigas is not only about cheap rice, but it is more about the food security agenda of President Marcos to ensure food sufficiency at an affordable price for the vulnerable sector of society while continuing support for farmers,” Guevarra said.
The national government earlier launched BBM Na! in 22 provinces across the country.
Guevarra also stressed that the Benteng Bigas rice is not imported.
