Globe brings digital livelihood, learning programs to Davao City
DAVAO CITY— Residents and students in Davao City received digital livelihood and learning support through Globe’s community initiatives held alongside the Kadayawan Festival, aimed at promoting digital inclusion, financial literacy, and responsible technology use.
The telecommunications company concluded its Kadayawan activities with a Globe Caravan at the Bucana 76-A Barangay Hall, where residents were introduced to digital tools that could help generate additional income and support daily transactions.
During the activity, participants learned how to use the Globe Benta App to sell prepaid load and promos within their communities. GCash also conducted sessions on financial literacy and social commerce, while Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program provided guidance on online safety and responsible use of technology.
Representatives from BPI and Generika also joined the event to offer banking and health-related services to residents. Members of the Green GSM community, including drivers and their families, also participated in the program.
“Kadayawan celebrates the culture, creativity and community spirit of Davao, and we want our participation to go beyond the festivities,” Globe Chief Marketing Officer KD Dizon said.
Separately, Globe brought its 5G Powered Campus initiative to Sta. Ana Central Elementary School, where it donated 5G-enabled mobile devices intended to support students’ learning activities.
Students also participated in a Digital Thumbprint session focused on responsible technology use. As part of the activity, 150 students received meals provided by Jollibee.
“We appreciate Globe’s support in helping our students become more prepared for an increasingly digital future. Access to technology, combined with responsible digital learning, gives our learners more opportunities to grow both inside and outside the classroom,” said Darwin Fernandez, principal of Sta. Ana Central Elementary School.
Globe said the initiatives form part of its broader efforts to expand access to digital tools and equip communities with skills that can be applied to education, livelihood, and online safety. [END]
