Davao City Central 911 Turns 24, Continues 24/7 Emergency Response

Davao City Central 911 is celebrating its 24th anniversary today, September 27, commemorating more than two decades of providing free, round-the-clock emergency assistance to Dabawenyos.

Central 911 was formally launched on September 27, 2002, during the administration of then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte. It became the first centralized emergency response system of its kind in the Philippines, offering a single hotline for medical emergencies, fire incidents, search-and-rescue operations, and other urgent situations.

For 24 years, Central 911 has served as a vital link between residents in distress and emergency responders, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the three-digit emergency number 911.

The service has continued to develop and strengthen its operations under the administrations of former Davao City Mayor and now Vice President Sara Z. Duterte and current Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte.

Its operations include specialized units such as the Emergency Calls Answering Point and Dispatch (ECAPD), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), and Fire Auxiliary Services (FAS).

As Central 911 reaches another milestone, the city government also recognizes the dedication of its emergency responders and support personnel who remain on duty around the clock, ready to assist during accidents, medical emergencies, fires, disasters, and other critical situations.

More than the recognition and accomplishments it has received over the years, Central 911's enduring legacy is reflected in the public's continued trust in the service—knowing that when emergencies arise, help is only three digits away.
