In a memorandum dated August 22, the university said the temporary shift will allow its administration to assess existing security threats and further strengthen campus safety and security systems.
The university also said the move will provide students and personnel time to emotionally and mentally process the events they have experienced over the past week.
However, RLE duties for the School of Nursing, internships, field work and field study activities will continue as scheduled. RLE activities that are normally conducted on campus will instead be held online.
Meanwhile, undergraduate preliminary examinations originally scheduled for August 24 to 29 have been moved to August 31 to September 5, 2026.
Despite the shift to online classes, AdDU said its Higher Education academic offices will remain open.
Administrators and administrative assistants are required to report to campus, while faculty members who need to use campus facilities for their online classes may be allowed entry.
The university also directed school deans to continue monitoring faculty attendance during the online class period.
The move comes as the university reinforces its security and safety measures following recent events affecting the Ateneo community.
