The mobile bakery made its first trip to Mindanao, bringing hands-on baking demonstrations, technical guidance, equipment, and business insights to Davao’s baking community on August 14 and 15.
The initiative aims to help neighborhood bakeshops, commercial bakers, and aspiring entrepreneurs improve their skills and strengthen their businesses through practical training and access to baking solutions.
URC Flour Commercial Director Naida Dalisay-Ebora said the partnership with the Davao City government goes beyond festival sponsorship, focusing instead on creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses.
"Our agreement with the Davao City LGU goes well beyond traditional festival sponsorship. True growth happens when we invest in people," said Naida Dalisay-Ebora, Commercial Director of URC Flour. "Through the Sugod Bakery Caravan, we are bringing our technical expertise directly to Davao’s local bakers, giving them the tools, knowledge, and high-quality flour solutions, they need to grow profitable, sustainable bakeshops right in their home city." Davao City Tourism Operations Administrative Officer Charlotte B. Parba welcomed the caravan, saying the program supports efforts to enhance the skills of local workers and help small businesses grow.
" We welcome URC Flour not just as a partner for Kadayawan, but as a genuine champion for our local micro-entrepreneurs," Parba said.
She said "This partnership aligns directly with our goal to upskill our local workforce and elevate our neighborhood small businesses. Equipped with baking techniques and reliable local supply, our Dabawenyo bakers can take their crafts to greater heights."
The Sugod Bakery Caravan previously held successful activities in Sariaya and Lucban, Quezon, before making its way to Davao for the Kadayawan festivities.
The two-day activity featured live baking demonstrations, skills training, and consultations with baking experts, giving participants practical knowledge they can apply to their own businesses.
