Matibag denies involvement in NBI probe, says husband has no role in congressional office
Laguna First District Rep. Ann Matibag said she has no involvement in directing, conducting or representing the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in any probe, following questions raised by Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte about infrastructure projects in her district.

In a statement, Matibag also clarified that her husband, NBI Director Melvin Matibag, has no role in the operations of her congressional office, stressing that their responsibilities as public officials are separate.

She said questions concerning the NBI's conduct or direction of its investigations should be raised directly with the bureau.

Matibag urged Duterte to submit any documents or videos that may indicate irregularities in projects in Laguna's First District to the appropriate authorities, along with specific details about the projects.

She said her office would cooperate in securing official records and in any lawful investigation.

Matibag also called for the same standards to be applied in examining the projects, saying the official records and evidence should determine whether the projects were properly delivered, whether public funds were lawfully used, and whether anyone should be held accountable.

She added that the investigation into flood-control projects in Davao City should be assessed based on its own evidence, while concerns involving projects in San Pedro City, Laguna should likewise be examined independently. OrderDemographic Reports

“This will be my only statement on this exchange,” Matibag said, adding that the records, evidence and proper investigative processes should establish the facts.
