The prosecutors reportedly found insufficient evidence to support Duterte’s complaint.
Duterte personally filed the case against Madriaga in March 2026 over what she described as the alleged spread of false information and misinformation.
In her complaint-affidavit, Duterte maintained that she and Madriaga did not know each other and had no personal or professional relationship.
Madriaga had previously alleged that he personally delivered large amounts of money to several individuals supposedly upon Duterte’s instructions when she was still Education secretary.
He also accused the Vice President of allegedly receiving campaign funds in 2022 from drug lords and Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).
Madriaga’s camp further claimed that Duterte visited him twice while he was detained at the BJMP facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, allegedly in an attempt to stop him from pursuing his allegations.
