According to Davao Light, the limited power supply is attributed to the unavailability of several generating units while electricity demand remains elevated.
The power utility said it has implemented measures to manage the available supply and minimize the impact on its customers. However, power interruptions may still occur as part of efforts to balance supply and demand.
Davao Light said the need for such measures could be reduced if power supply conditions improve or electricity demand becomes more manageable.
The company assured customers that it is continuously monitoring the situation and will release advisories if interruptions become necessary.
Consumers are also encouraged to practice energy conservation, particularly during peak hours, to help ease demand while Mindanao continues to experience tight power supply. GeographicReference

A Red Alert is declared when available power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirements.
According to NGCP, a yellow alert is also in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The grid has an available capacity of 2,480 megawatts (MW) against a peak demand of 2,546 MW, resulting in a supply shortfall during the projected peak period.
A total of 841.6 MW remains unavailable to the grid due to several power plants on forced outage and others operating at reduced capacities.
The unavailability of Mindanao’s major coal-fired power plants, GNPK 1, GNPK 2, and TSI 2, contributed to the alert status.
