Four die  in separate drowning incidents in Davao Region
Four people died in separate drowning incidents recorded by the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) in different areas of Davao City and nearby provinces.

The first victim was identified only as alias Gen, 55, a resident of Barangay Agdao, Davao City. He was found floating unconscious at a depth of about 3.5 feet within the vicinity of Camp Holiday Beach Resort. 

Authorities said he was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.

On August 8, 2026, alias Chino, 19, of New Camili, Carmen, Davao del Norte, drowned while swimming near Putingbonbon Beach Resort in Magnaga, Pantukan, Davao de Oro. 

Chino, who was reportedly a non-swimmer, was with his older brother and cousin when large waves separated him from his companions. He was also allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

The following day, August 9, 15-year-old Johh, also from New Camili, Carmen, drowned while swimming near Kalayaan Beach Resort in Barangay Daliao, Toril District, Davao City. He was reportedly hit by a large wave before being swept away by a strong current. City& Local Guides

On August 9, 37-year-old alias  Dabtar, a resident of Talicud Island, Kaputian District, Island Garden City of Samal, died during a spearfishing activity in the waters off Kaputian Port. Dabtar was with his 68-year-old father, and a certain Kar, who traveled aboard separate motor bancas for the activity.

The CGDSEM recorded the incidents as part of its monitoring of water-related accidents in the region and continues to remind the public to exercise caution when swimming or engaging in water activities, particularly during rough sea conditions.
